Is it really free or is there a catch? You answer your telephone and a friendly voice says you have won a prize! You give your address to enable the company to deliver your prize. A salesperson arrives at your home. There may or may not be a prize but there will surely be a sales pitch to convince you to buy something. <br /><br /> Be wary of door-to-door sales and high-pressure tactics. Take time to think about buying this item. Do ask the salesperson for personal identification. Do ask for information brochures about this company and this product. Is the company reputable? If the pressure tactics continue, ask the salesperson to leave. Call the police if you have concerns. <br /><br /> Take time to consider this purchase. Do not give out any personal or financial information. Do not sign anything. Do not give out credit card information. <br /><br /> If you do decide to buy the product, read the contract very carefully. There may be hidden costs financing costs. Contracts are likely to be sold to finance companies and interest rates are predictably high. <br /><br /> You buy the product. You have given out personal and financial information. You have signed a contract. You now realize that you really do not need or want this item. What can you do? <br /><br /> A buyer may, without any reason, cancel the contract at any time from the date of entering into the contract until 10 days after receiving the written copy of the contract. You may still be able to cancel if more than 10 days have elapsed.
